SM Supermalls has officially launched its first Food Hall outside Luzon, bringing a curated culinary experience to the Visayas region with the opening of the SM City Cebu Food Hall on August 22, 2024.
Situated on the third level of the mall, this new dining destination offers a diverse selection of cuisines in a stylish and comfortable setting.
During the grand opening, Steven Tan, President of SM Supermalls, shared insights into the evolution of the Food Hall concept, which first debuted at SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).
“We tried it there. We experimented, and it was very successful. So we started rolling it out to the big malls—Mall of Asia, Megamall, North Edsa. This one in SM City Cebu is the first outside Luzon,” Tan said.
The Food Hall concept is not intended for every SM mall, but rather as a response to specific customer demands.
“The plan is not to have a Food Hall in all SM malls, but to listen to what customers are asking for and to provide them with what they need,” Tan explained.
The new Food Hall at SM City Cebu is designed to cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences.
“For me, it’s about giving customers choices. We still provide all-time favorites, but this one is more curated. It’s for those who are more adventurous, who want to try something new. But if they want that old, familiar feeling that’s comfortable and heartwarming, they can go to the food court,” Tan added.
The grand opening event was marked by a ceremonial toast led by Tan, along with Marissa Fernan, Vice President of SM Prime Holdings, Inc., and Michelle Llanos, Vice President for Operations – Visayas of SM Supermalls.
The Food Hall’s design reflects a blend of modern elegance and local culture, with interiors adorned with lush greenery and décor paying homage to Cebu’s rich heritage.
Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows provide natural light and picturesque views, enhancing the dining experience.
Diners at the SM City Cebu Food Hall can indulge in a variety of culinary offerings from well-known brands and local favorites, including Master Po, Buffalo Brads, Por’Que, Shish Kebab Hub, The French Baker, The Lemon Co., Bap Heaven, Steak Shack, Red Bowl, Sagye, Tah-mee, Tsim Sha Tsui, TD&CO, and more.
This new addition to Cebu’s dining scene promises to be a hit among food enthusiasts, offering a mix of international flavors, local delicacies, and Asian fusions—all under one roof.
