Mactan, Philippines – An international school is set to open in this tiny island south of the capital Manila through a joint venture with Japanese and Filipino investors.

Details of the school have not been fully disclosed but sources said it will be a 200-room school of international standards, with a planned opening in 2021.

The Japanese investors and their Filipino counterparts laid the time capsule recently, signalling the start of the school’s construction within the 6.5-hectare property in Barangay Bangkal, Mactan, Cebu.

International contractor Engr. Joseph Frederick Pepito of JFAP Construction will lead the construction works of the new international school.

JFAP Construction, based in Ormoc City, Leyte, was founded in 1996. It provides equipment rentals and engineering services for private and government clients, including civil infrastructures, general engineering, general building, and environmental projects.

International SchoolMactan, the location of the new international school, is an island a few kilometres from mainland Cebu. It is part of Cebu Province and is divided into Lapu-Lapu City and the municipality of Cordova.

The island is also where the Mactan-Cebu International Airport is situated, linking the province to several locations in the Philippines and abroad. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
