The holiday season in Cebu was marked with grandeur as the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino hosted its highly anticipated Christmas Tree Lighting event, aptly named Santa’s Workshop.

The evening was attended by a distinguished gathering of government officials, business leaders, tourism stakeholders, media personalities, social media influencers, hotel guests, and more, adding a touch of elegance and festivity to the night.

In his opening remarks, General Manager Ali Banting invited attendees to embrace the enchantment of the season.

“Tonight, I invite you to imagine a magical place far, far away—a place where wonders come to life and holiday magic is a thing the whole year round,” he said, transporting everyone to the whimsical world of Santa’s Workshop.

Banting painted a vivid picture of industrious elves working tirelessly at their stations, crafting gifts with care to bring joy to children on Christmas morning. He emphasized the deeper meaning of the season—a time of forgiveness, joy, and kindness that unites people.

Banting’s heartfelt words served as a poignant reminder of the magic that stems from shared love, hard work, and simple acts of kindness.

The Voice of Cebu Choir further heightened the festive atmosphere with their soul-stirring renditions of classic Christmas carols, serenading the guests and filling the venue with the spirit of the holidays. The harmonious melodies created a backdrop that brought nostalgic warmth and cheer.

The highlight of the evening came as a select group of notable guests took center stage to light the majestic Christmas tree, a grand symbol of the season. Leading the ceremonial lighting were Acting Vice Mayor Dondon Hontiveros, Pagcor Consolacion Pasion’s General Manager Dr. Vivina Chiu, Miss Universe Philippines-Cebu Kris Tiffany Janson, Mandaue Chamber President Marc Ynoc, Cebu City Councilor Atty. Joy Pesquera, Emirates Cebu’s Raymund Hicarte, European Chamber of Commerce Chairman and Mercedes-Benz CEO Jochen Bitzer alongside his wife Irma Bitzer, and Banting.

The tree’s illumination signaled the official start of the holiday season, casting a warm glow across the hotel’s grand lobby and filling hearts with anticipation for the days ahead. This symbolic act was more than just the lighting of a tree—it was a call to remember the joy and togetherness that the holidays bring.

As guests departed, they carried with them the essence of the evening—a blend of music, light, and heartfelt messages that resonated with the spirit of Christmas. The event reminded all that whether it’s writing a holiday card, baking cookies, or lending a helping hand, these small acts of kindness channel the magic of Santa’s Workshop into the world.
