Maybank Asset Management (MAM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Maybank Asset Management Group (MAMG), has partnered with BNP Paribas Asset Management to introduce the MAMG Green Tigers Fund.
This qualified Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) fund, in accordance with the Securities Commission’s Guidelines on Sustainable and Responsible Investment Funds, is designed to enrich MAMG’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) product offerings.
The MAMG Green Tigers Fund, a feeder fund, seeks to achieve capital growth by investing in the BNP Paribas Funds Green Tigers, referred to as the Target Fund. The Target Fund aims to deliver sustainable returns over the long term by investing in innovative Asia-Pacific companies at the forefront of providing disruptive environmental solutions.
Ahmed Muzni Mohamed, CEO of Maybank Asset Management, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, saying, “We are pleased to add the MAMG Green Tigers Fund to our suite of ESG/Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) funds. This Fund arrives at a pivotal moment in Asia when rapid urbanization, limited resources, supportive government sustainability policies, and the demand for industrial efficiencies are driving sustained investment in the Asian Environmental Market.”
With the MAMG Green Tigers Fund, local investors can access six environment market-themed equities, generating sustainable and reliable returns while adhering to ESG regulations.
Furthermore, the Fund aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, industry, innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities, and responsible consumption and production.
Daniel Choong, CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management Malaysia, emphasized the growing importance of environmental investments in the region, stating, “The financial sector has a critical role to play in creating a positive environmental impact, and we are proud to have jointly launched the MAMG Green Tigers Fund with Maybank Asset Management. This fund aims to take advantage of resources targeted at long-term growth through investments in Asia-Pacific companies that are focused on designing cutting-edge solutions within the environmental markets.”
The MAMG Green Tigers Fund offers exposure to a range of opportunities within Asian equities, with a primary focus on fast-growing and disruptive environmental solution providers.
It is available in five currency classes, including USD, MYR, MYR-Hedged, AUD-Hedged, and SGD-Hedged, with varying minimum investment amounts. The Fund is suitable for investors seeking medium to long-term capital appreciation and are willing to tolerate associated risks.
Investors now have the opportunity to participate in a fund that not only aims for financial returns but also aligns with the imperative goal of positively impacting the environment through sustainable investments in Asia-Pacific markets.
