Philippine charter airline Air Juan has launched its Iloilo-Caticlan and Iloilo-Cuyo flights to provide tourists direct access to the islands of Boracay and Palawan from Iloilo.
Air Juan will utilize its brand new Grand Caravan landplanes that can carry nine passengers and two crew members.
Tourism stakeholders said the new flights come at a right time considering that tourist number in the island of Boracay and Palawan is expected to rise with the Holy Week and the summer season.
A charter airline that started in 2010, Air Juan holds an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) from the Civil Aeronautics Board.
With bases in Manila, Palawan and Cebu, it began operations by providing air transport services for businesses using its new fleet of Cessna Grand Caravans and Bell Helicopters.
In 2014, Air Juan ventured into the tourism market by operating charter flights in Palawan, mainly Puerto Princesa, Busuanga and Cuyo.
The success of these routes encouraged the development of a Busuanga-Caticlan sector which links two of the Philippines’ most popular tourist destinations, Coron and Boracay. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
