A four-year-old boy was among the survivors in the deadly Florida Highway crash that killed eight people on board a church van, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Eight people were killed while 10 others were injured when a church van crashed on State Road 78 and US027 in Glades County, Florida, authorities said
The fatalities include the van driver and eight of the van’s passengers, authorities said, in what can be considered as one of the most deadly single-vehicle accident in the county.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the van, carrying a total of 18 occupants, passed through a stop sign traveling east on SR 78, careened across all lanes of US 27, before going into a steep partially water-filled canal located on the US 27 east side grass shoulder.
The van is from a church out of the Fort Pierce area.
Florida Highway Patrol public affairs officer Lt. Gregory S. Bueno said among the survivors is a four-year-old child, who is now in stable condition.
It was not still known why the driver passed through a stop sign. The names of the fatalities have also not been released by authorities of this posting.
Bueno said the Florida Highway Patrol was investigating the accident to determine the real cause of the crash. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
